The details

Bustle mvp

As a startup, we wanted to remain agile and iterate. As a team, we delegated tasks and discussed what tools and services we could leverage. We interviewed our subject matter experts to determine what they needed from the application and how they would use it. We began to identify the areas of the application that would demand the most attention and started mapping the user flows. We designed our branding and selected a colour palette, and then we were underway!

Bustle create booking

The design of the create booking process has been highly iterative and improvised. Early on, bookings were bound to a predefined list of teachers. Their order and status managed in a different area of the app.

Following a phase of testing, the BustleHQ team realised that lists were only a starting point. We moved to using the lists to pre-fill a booking. The creator can then move teachers around as needed.

Only new features identified during our testing phase entered development. The team's original approach to bookings was set-and-forget. The assumption was that the booking creator is only concerned with the result. Whilst true, we realised that visibility on the booking progress is important. We added visuals on which teachers have declined or not yet responded.

The most enjoyable part of my work on BustleHQ to date is seeing the product move from idea to MVP. Overseeing the process from wireframes, to prototype to production application. I love this process.
